As Christmas is approaching, the State of Bavaria Quebec Office takes the opportunity of the recent German Christmas Market in Québec city's incredible success to wish all its visitors and readers a Merry Christmas and a particularly happy New Year

The Christmas market, organized by the German Community in Quebec, was astonishment in itself. From December 4th to 6th nearly 20,000 enthusiastic people discovered this German holiday tradition as they strolled down the little wooden house street built especially for this purpose in the shade of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Old Québec. The State of Bavaria Quebec Office held free tastings of typical holiday preparations: over 80 L of homemade "Glühwein" (hot spice wine) and almost 30 kgs of especially imported Nürnberger Elisenlebkuchen, the world famous German gingerbread offered visitors a glimpse into culinary and tasty traditions of Bavaria. A complete success which hopefully announces a New Year of the same!

Not only the free Bavarian delicatessen brought the Office's wooden house a constant flow of new visitors: a colourful Wish Tree was there to introduce another German tradition. Innumerable wishes were written and hung out on variegated papercards. While on the one hand some visitors drew or ornamented their cards, and while on the other hand others just wrote simple words, one cannot help but notice the one wish remaining all throughout those days: for these simple, essential yet ephemeral things called health, love and happiness among one's loved ones.

The State of Bavaria Quebec Office would like to take the opportunity of these wonderful few days to wish all its readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
