A political and technological delegation will accompany Bavaria's Vice Minister of Economic Affairs, Ms. Katja Hessel, on a visit to Québec from June 16-20, 2009


On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Bavaria-Québec cooperation, a political and technological delegation, from both the medical technology and the energy technology sectors, will accompany Ms. Katja Hessel, Bavaria's Vice Minister of Economic Affairs, Infrastructures, Transportation and Technology, on a trip to Montréal and Québec City from June 16 20, 2009.

At the occasion of this visit Vice Minister Hessel and the political delegation will meet with representatives of Québec's ministère du Développement, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation (MDEIE), ministère des Relations internationales (MRI), ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune (MRNF) and ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), to discuss the further strengthening of the Bavaria-Québec economic and technological cooperations. On June 18, Ms. Hessel will give a talk to members of Montreal's CORIM (The Montréal Council on Foreign Relations). On the same day she will preside a reception at the Montréal Science Center to underline both the 20 years of a particularly successful cooperation between Bavaria and Québec, and the 10 years of existence of the State of Bavaria Québec Office in Montreal. At this reception she will officially introduce Mr. Daniel Curio, the new director of the State of Bavaria Québec Office, who took up his position on May 1st.

The economic delegations accompagnying Vice Minister Hessel will meet with experts of Québec's medical technology and energy technology sectors. Several meetings are scheduled, among which, with representatives of Hydro-Québec and the CHUM.
Bavaria and Québec have now been partner regions (States? – ref. DC) for 20 years and have carried out over 370 cooperation projects together. The State of Bavaria Québec Office in Montréal (one of 20 Bavarian foreign Representative Offices) and the General Delegation of Québec in Munich help foster contacts and implement joint projects between Bavaria and Québec. The key industry sectors addressed by this cooperation are environmental and energy technology, biotechnology, new materials, the supply of automotive components, information and communications technology, photonics and the aerospace industry.
