IFAT Entsorga is one of the most important trade shows for innovation and industrial services in water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. 2.730 exhibitors from 49 countries will be welcoming and informing visitors at Munich’s Trafe Fair Center during the week of May 7th – 11th, 2012. In this context, juste like in 2010, a special Canada forum will take place May 9th at 1 p.m., Hall C1. Prof. Ralf Ludwig, chair of the Geography department at Munich's Ludwig-Maximilian University, will lead the discussions until 3 pm.

The goal of this Special Forum is to present the environmental sectors of Canada. It shall offer an exchange platform around technological trends and developments. Natural resources of Northern Canada, such as oil and gas, forestry, fisheries and mining lead to an increasing value of this region in terms of strategic investment. The “Plan Nord” initiative, which the government of Québec promotes, intends to support and develop the Northern regions of the Province in collaboration with the Aboriginal population. Québec and Bavaria recently signed a cooperation agreement for the Plan Nord initiative, which will see $80 billion invested within the next 25 years.

Furthermore specialists from Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia will examine more perspectives for developing the North. The focus is on juridical issues, technological challenges and cooperation with the resident citizens.
