May 13-16, a delegation from the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation led by the former Bavarian minister-president Dr. Günther Beckstein visited Montreal and Ottawa

The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation is a foundation that caters to political education in Germany. The liaison bureau in Washington organized the trip of the delegation in cooperation with the State of Bavaria Quebec Office and the German Embassy in Ottawa. Besides the former Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Günther Beckstein, the delegation consisted of the Vice-President of the Foundation, member of the Bavarian Landtag and President of the parliamentary group on Federal and European Relations, Prof. Dr. Ursula Männle, as well as of the member of Bundestag (German federal parliament) and President of the parliamentary group for Economy and Technology, Mr. Ernst Hinsken.

In the focus of the Montreal schedule were meetings and discussions with the Quebec Minister of Immigration and Integration, Mrs. Kathleen Weil, and with the Minister for Economic Development, Innovation and Export, Mr. Sam Hamad, around the 'Plan Nord' initiative. Furthermore the programme included a traditional meeting with MPs of the Assembléé Nationale du Québec. In Ottawa the delegation had further high ranking consultations with Canadian politicians and federal ministers.

Since 2009 a delegation of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation visits Montreal and Ottawa once a year, thus delivering a valuable contribution to the partnership between Bavaria and Québec.
