12th meeting of the Work Group Bavaria-Quebec in Munich – more than 500 accomplished within the last 23 years, over 50 projects planned for upcoming two-year period


On Friday, June 15th, the city of Munich hosted the 12th Meeting of the Work Group Bavaria-Quebec, under the presidency of Dr. Jörg Vogel, Head of the European Politics and International Relationships Department at the Bavarian Chancellery, and Mr. Marc Croteau, Deputy Minister of Quebec’s Ministry of International Relationships. More than 50 cooperation projects in politics, administration, research, economics, education and culture were agreed upon for the upcoming 2 years.

The main cooperation emphasis of this new program period lies in the “Plan Nord” initiative of the Quebec government, and the field of electro mobility. After the cooperation agreement Minister President Seehofer and Prime Minister Charest signed in April, the common initiatives within the “Plan Nord” are getting concrete. On June 18th, the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw) hosts an information seminar in Munich where Bavarian companies get a chance to learn more about the economical and developmental opportunities they have in the Far North of Québec. On this occasion, Quebec’s Transport Minister, Mr. Pierre Moreau, travelled to Munich where he officially opens the Seminar along with Bavarian Minister of Federal and European Affairs, Mrs. Emilia Müller. Next Fall, the province of Quebec will host a visit of Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. Martin Zeil, leading an economical and technological delegation.

In the 23 years of the Bavaria-Quebec partnership, more than 500 cooperation projects were already successfully accomplished.
