Each year since 2006, the first week end of September it’s the “Oktoberfest des Québécois” festival: a great public event in the province, where Bavaria’s and Quebec’s traditions and cultures meet. After over 31,000 visitors in 3 days in 2011, the organizers are expecting more than 35,000 visits for the 2012 edition.

The “Oktoberfest des Québécois” festival is the ideal place to create bonds between the Bavarian beer fest tradition and Quebec’s young and uprising brewing culture. Many local microbreweries and artisans take part in it, alongside typically Bavarian products.

The State of Bavaria Office in Montreal has been present since the beginnings of this Festival, and is particularly proud this year to promote the “über”-Bavarian folk music group “D' Talbach Buam”. The group already performed on international level on many occasions – in Hong Kong, Japan, the U.S. – and was formed in 2003 when 5 young musicians of the village Berg in Bavaria decided to play together under the name “D' Talbach Buam”, a dialectal form of “the guys from the river” (in honour of the river flowing through their village).

Newcomercontest-list-swLast minute surprise, the Bavarian Newcomer 2012, List, will perform on Saturday, Sept. 8! After their other concert at Envol & Macadam Festival on Sept. 6, this is a new opportunity to listen to the rising stars of the young Bavarian rock scene - "a gigantic sound that never loses balance" (fm4.orf.at)

The Festival Oktoberfest des Québécois will take place September 7-9 at Repentigny’s Lebel Island park. The “Talbach Buam” will perform all week end long in the “Vieux Munich” tent.
