Canadian engineering company Focus Microwaves chooses Bavaria as new site; Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Zeil: “Technology firm with a worldwide reputation profits from the high-tech business location Bavaria.”


MUNICH -- The Canadian company Focus Microwaves, patent leader in load-pull and sound adapting systems, has chosen Ottobrun near Munich as its headquarters in Europe and already took up business with one employee.

The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Marin Zeil is convinced that the choice of location of this technology firm, highly considered worldwide in R&D, is another sign of Bavaria's excellent reputation as a high-tech business location: “Focus Microwaves is going to profit on long-term from the nearby science institutes and from the access to highly-qualified workers in the Munich area. I welcome the company to Bavaria and wish them an excellent start into their business”, Mr Zeil commented.

By opening the first German site, the firm is planning to serve not only the German but also the European market. Dr. Christos Tsironis, founder of Focus Microwaves Inc., adds: “The expansion of our company and the opening of a site in Bavaria is an important and exciting step for the growth of Focus Microwaves. Thanks to Bavaria’s world reputation as an innovation location and the business environment Munich, which is very important for us, this place is perfect.”

Since its foundation in 1989, Focus Microwaves Inc. has been an internationally active engineering company. According to the Montreal based firm, it disposes of the most important patents in the field of electromechanical impedance tuners.

Canada is an important and long lasting trading partner for the Bavarian economy with a trade volume of 2.2 billion euros. More than 1,200 Bavarian companies are holding business relations with Canadian enterprises which are backed actively by the State of Bavaria Montreal Office.
