From May 22th to June 8th, 2013, the seventh edition of Montreal's Festival Transamériques will have the metropolis' heart pace a little faster. For 18 days, Montreal will be dance and theater, as every year ravishing the most demanding audiences.

And what's better to start with than a theatrical cannon-shot?

For the first time, Montrealers will discover the intelligence and sharpness of Schaubühne Berlin's Artistic Director Thomas Ostermeier, one of the most significant stage directors of the last years. By dusting down Henrik Ibsen's An Ennemy Of The People, Ostermeier dives into a dilemma just as familiar today as it was 130 years ago: Integrity, or money? He does so with such acuity, such relevance, such skill in the manipulations of power, and with such appropriation of human fragility, that the spectator plunges right into the fiction, actively taking part in the debate during a memorable public meeting.

In this devastatingly intelligent presentation, one driven by an urgent desire to speak out about the world we live in, Ostermeier revives grand German tradition through a lucid audacity, while remaining faithful to the idea of theatre as being necessary for society.
