Next April 24-28, the province of Quebec will welcome a group of managers from the Red Cross of Bavaria, under the lead of its President, Princess Christa von Thurn und Taxis. Several exchanges and work meetings are scheduled with representatives from the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services, as well as with Héma-Québec and the Quebec Division of the Canadian Red Cross. Discussions will cover short and long-term care, with a visit of the IUGM (Institut de Gériatrie de l'Université de Montréal), as well as issues around blood transfusion.

On the occasion of this high-ranking visit, the Bavarian delegation will participate in the annual Fundraising Gala of the Canadian Red Cross’s Quebec Division, to be held on April 25 in Montreal under the theme of Bavaria. Mrs von Thurn und Taxis will be the guest of honor. This event, which has been organized annually since 2005, is one of the traditional philanthropic events held by the various national societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements around the world, and stands as the Canadian Red Cross’s most important fundraising event.

The Bavarian Red Cross is a publicly owned corporation headquartered in Munich, and the greatest Red Cross association in Germany, counting 18,500 employees, 125,000 volunteers and more than 1 million sponsoring citizens. Its main activities cover health care and social services, rescue and ambulance services, emergency help and international cooperation, first aid training, and blood transfusion services.
