Unveiling of the finalists at Newcomer Contest Bayern 2013


Out of more than 100 applications, the five best bands have now been chosen for the Final on Friday July 12, 2013, in Friedrich-Koenig Gymnasium Wurzburg.

Three bands are from the State capital Munich: „Exclusive“, „Blackout Problems“ and „Blind Freddy“. „We destroy Disco“ from Augsburg and „A Young Man`s Journey“ from Aschaffenburg complete the line-up. The jury seats 11 professionals from allover Germany.

The band „Killerpilze“ will be the main act at the final.

The main prize of the contest is a trip to Quebec (Canada), complete with 2 gigs at „Envol et Macadam Festival“ and at St. Patrick`s High School in September 2013 in Quebec-City. Also to be won, a professional picture shooting, a year-long coaching contract or a gig at „Seewärts Festival in Chieming“.

"We are overwhelmed by the sheer number of applications we received, and by the exceptional musical quality of them all", Michael Jodl, from the agency Die Gebrüder Krimm, sums up. "What we are also particularly delighted by is that we've received applications from really each and every part of Bavaria!"

The contest is under the patronage of Landtag President Mrs. Barbara Stamm, and is supported by Kulturfonds Bayern, the State Chancellery, the Lower Franconia district and the city of Wurzburg. Also supporting are the Government of Quebec and the State of Bavaria Office in Montreal.
