Festival Ciné Tapis Rouge, September 24-29: Montréal rolls out red carpet for films from Bavaria

18.09.2013

Since 2007, Festival Ciné Tapis Rouge has been supporting exchanges between the Quebec film sector and cinema producers from all over the world. Each Fall, a partner region or country presents a selection of its recent films at Cinema Beaubien, one of Montreal's best visited movie theaters.

Already more than 200 films have thus crossed the Atlantic in search of new audiences in Quebec, Switzerland, Catalonia, Rumania and Denmark. In September 2013, Bavaria will be the partner region to present "their" cinema, in cooperation with the State of Bavaria Quebec Office. Reciprocally in Spring 2014, the Fünf Seen Festival in Bavaria will screen a selection of Quebec-made movies.

From September 24-29, Tapis rouge au cinéma bavarois will screen 3 FFF Bayern financed films in presence of their directors: Ms. Yasemin Samdereli (Almanya, 2011), Maggie Peren (Die Farbe des Ozeans / The Color Of The Ocean, 2011), and Michaela Kezele (Die Brücke am Ibar / My Beautiful Country, 2012). They will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Klaus Schäfer, CEO, and Mrs. Lisa Giehl, Support Programs Coordinator at FFF Bayern.

Other highlights include the famous animated short film Ein Münchner im Himmel (A Municher In Paradise), shot in 1962 and based on a story written in 1911 by Ludwig Thoma. For this very special occasion, the Festival's spokesperson, actor Rémi-Pierre Paquin, will dubb the film live in Quebec French! The story is one of the most cited references of Bavarian popular culture and draws a comic and affectionate portrait of the typical Munich "ranter" and his very peculiar idea of paradise.

Also not to miss: The feature documentary Bavaria, by Joseph Vilsmaier (see the trailer), an aerial trip through Germany's most beautiful region, its landscapes, its history and its traditions.
