Leading universities in Munich, Konstanz and Montreal: Long-time cooperation supported by new grant from Canadian Research Council

A Partnership Development Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) was awarded to facilitate the educational-sciences cooperationbetween two universities in Germany, the University of Konstanz and Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich, and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. The collaboration between the educational-sciences departments of these 3 universities has existed for several years, and through the financial support of the funding programme, now represents a formal research collaboration.

The funding of more than 190,000 C$ (around 140,000 euros) will be used primarily in support of graduate student research and career development in the field of educational research. The grant will also support the continued development of a student exchange programme and provide professional development opportunities for students and young researchers at both the masters and doctoral level.

The educational-sciences cooperation between the University of Konstanz, McGill University, and LMU Munich revolves around research on emotions and motivation in the context of learning and performance in postsecondary students. The SSHRC Partnership Development Grant also represents an attempt to involve research-relevant, non-scientific institutions, such as schools and non-profit organizations, in funded research initiatives.
