For the sixth year in a row, Old Quebec city will host the German Christmas Market in early December. Now a well-established tradition, the German Christmas Market in Quebec is replica of the Christmas markets one finds throughout Bavaria, Germany, Austria and Switzerland - even parts of France - during Advent.

After the success of last year's new formula, the Christmas Market will again feature a 10-day exhibition on Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, just in front of the Basilica. A small village of beautifully decorated wooden kiosks will display local artisanship throughout various specialties: from jewelry over soap and candle artists, vintage toys, decoration items, to local food products. This year again, visitors can enjoy delicious German foods and drinks: Glühwein, Lebkuchen, grilled sausages and hot maroons will all be there. Also, free concerts and cultural activities are offered throughout the Market's 10 days: Click here for the complete cultural program.

As a part of this cultural offer, the State of Bavaria Quebec Office is proud to present an organ concert by German organist Jens Korndoerfer, graduate of McGill University in Montreal and now organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA. He will play on the Basilica's organ on Friday, November 29, at 7pm, for a "Festive evening at the Organ". Admission is free, a voluntary contribution is appreciated.
