Ice hockey club Ingolstadt new German Champion

For the first time in its history, the professional hockey club ERC Ingolstadt won the German ice hockey Championship. Even MP Horst Seehofer (himself from Ingolstadt) congratulated the team - one more reason for the Panthers to celebrate their coup. In the last game of the final round, the Bavarians defeated the Cologner Sharks. Being only 9th when entering the playoffs, the ERC completed their series of victory in Cologne with 2:0 (0:0, 1:0, 1:0).

The final had taken a tragic turn for the favourites, the Cologner Sharks, as they had to spare their best player. Canadian striker Rob Collins had been blocked for the final due to a foul after the game on Sunday.

Canadians also form a big part of the Panthers team. Tyler Bouck, Delek Hahn and Quebecers Michel Périard and Jean-François Boucher are currently signed at ERC Ingolstadt. What they share in common with their Bavarian team colleagues is way more than just hockey: Read the story here.
