On Friday, June 6th 2014, the city of Québec hosted the 13th meeting of the Bavaria-Québec Work Group, under the double chairmanship of Mr Michel Audet, Deputy Minister of the Quebec Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie, and Mr Klaus Ulrich, Director of the International Relations/ North America Department at the Bavarian State Chancellery. Taking place every two years, the meetings serve to agree upon cooperation projects in economy, research, education, culture and administration for the next two years as well as to discuss the state of current projects and the cooperation.

About 20 delegates of the ministries and participating representations agreed upon more than 60 bilateral cooperation projects in all areas of regional cooperation. Economy, innovation and youth exchanges are key elements of the new cooperation program.

In the field of economy, alongside the field of aerospace, the cooperation shall be intensified above all in electric mobility and the development of the North of Québec. In science the focus will be put on the sectors of neurosciences, life sciences, renewable energies and climate change.

Under the motto “Partnership for the future” the Bavaria-Québec cooperation celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and will especially support the youth and cultural exchanges - student exchange, artist mobility and cooperation in audiovisual media. Particularly worthy of highlighting is the renewed promotion of the initiative Portraits croisés”, a partnership existing since 2008 between the HHF Munich and l’INIS which enjoys great success on several documentary festivals around the world.
