Bavaria-Quebec cooperation MoU in matters of science and research signed

A group of Bavarian scientists and university presidents, led by Dr. Michael Mihatsch, Assistant Deputy Minister at the Bavarian Ministry of Education, Research and Culture, met with several Quebec counterparts this week.

After meeting the Deputy Minister of the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec, Mr. Michel Audet, representatives of the Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et des Exportations, of Université Laval and of INRS in Québec-City, the group continued towards Montreal where a tightly fit program of exchanges was awaiting them. Meetings with Université de Montréal, McGill University, Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal, Institut de recherche Hydro-Québec led to enriching discussions. An encounter with LOJIQ, the Quebec office spearheading young adults' mobility, also nurtured the exchanges.

On September 16, 2014, Dr. Mihatsch, jointly with Mrs Maryse Lassonde, Scientific Director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et Technologies, and Dr. Renaldo Battista, Scientific Director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé, signed a MoU reinforcing the cooperation between Bavarian and Québec in the fields of research and technology. Within the frame of this understanding, both parties pledge to intensify information exchanges in research topics of common interest, to increase the number of joint activities, and to facilitate the participation of scientists from both Bavaria and Quebec in research projects and initiatives of international scale.
