For one week-end, Montreal celebrates 25 years of partnership between Bavaria Québec

2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the Bavaria-Quebec partnership. In order to celebrate that, the festival „Montréal fête la Bavière” takes place for the first time in the historic Bonsecours Market in Montréal, October 3-5, 2014.

The non-profit organisation Bavière-Québec Inc. was founded just for the event. Its director, Mr. Mario Ménard, has been an industry leader in the Quebec beer distribution market for more than 25 years now. Profits will go to the foundation for social pediatrics “Fondation du Dr. Julien”, which works for a healthy development of children and children’s rights. The Representation of the State of Bavaria is happy to be a partner of the event.

Montréal fête la Bavière will offer real Bavarian culture: traditional Bavarian music by the group Die Hinterberger, from Nussdorf am Inn, a beer garden, as well as a great choice of Bavarian Beers and other delicacies await visitors and will showcase Bavarian culture. The event addresses all people interested in Bavaria, beer lovers, Germans in Montréal and representatives of the German brewing industry. 5000 visitors are expected. The Bavarian minister for European Affairs and International Relations, Dr. Beate Merk, and the Québec Minister for International Relations and the Francophonie, Mrs. Christine St-Pierre, will inaugurate the event with the traditional tapping of the first keg of beer.

Furthermore, all visitors can take part in a big raffle for a chance to win a trip for 2 to Munich's Oktoberfest 2015, with access to the Hofbräu tent - thanks to the support of event partners Lufthansa and Hofbräu. The filled coupon has to be put in the box at the booth of the State of Bavaria Office. The drawing will take place on October 9 at our offices.
