Bavarian Minister for European Affairs and International Relations Dr. Beate Merk visits Canada / 25 years of Bavaria-Quebec partnership

From Tuesday, September 30 to Friday, October 3, 2014, Bavaria’s Minister of European Affairs and International Relations, Dr. Beate Merk, will be travelling to Canada to mark the 25-year jubilee of the Bavaria-Quebec partnership. Minister Merk will have several political meetings with members of the Quebec government as well as federal ministers in Ottawa, on topics covering CETA discussions, economic and scientific cooperation, and immigration policy issues.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the fruitful Bavaria-Quebec partnership, Minister Merk will unveil a commemorative plaque in Quebec City, and be the guest of honour at a special reception given by Quebec’s Minister of International Relations and the Francophonie, Mrs Christine St-Pierre. She will also meet the MPs who are members of the Délégation de l’Assemblée nationale pour les relations avec la Bavière (DANRBA).

In Ottawa, Dr. Merk will meet several high-ranking representatives from government, economy and culture, before taking part in the official celebrations of the Day of German Unity on October 2nd at the German Ambassador’s residence.

In Montreal, Minister Merk will officially inaugurate the new State of Bavaria Office as well as preside over the launch of “Montréal fête la Bavière”, Friday October 3rd at 11:00 am, at Bonsecours Market.

The Bavarian Parliament ("Landtag") will be represented during this trip by MP Kerstin Schreyer-Stäblein.
