Bavarian Export volumes increased by approximately 1,5% to 126 billion euros in the first nine months of 2014 compared with the previous year, import volumes by approximately 1,9 % to 112 billion euros. The Bavarian Minister of Economy Ilse Aigner: “International trade prospers despite worldwide risks and uncertainty in the Bavarian economy. Even after the third quarter completion, Bavarian firms set above the previous year level in import- and export volumes. After many months of pessimistic economic mood, currently confidence of the firms is even increasing.  This is also shown in the ifo business climate index which recently increased for the first time in six months.” There would be reason to hope that the foreign trade record of the previous year could be exceeded again, the Minister remarked.

Furthermore, Aigner is convinced of Bavarian foreign trade strategy: “Our three most important trading partners – the US, China and Austria – they’re all from different continents and stand for our global presence. Bavarian firms are represented on their own doorstep as well as in great international lead markets. We want to use this as a starting point to exploit even better more future markets for Bavaria.”
