As part of the cooperation in the cultural branch between Bavaria and Quebec, November 2015 will see an artist and an exhibition curator in visual arts from Bavaria come to Montreal. Their aim is to explore the local contemporary culture scene. This exchange is part of the collaboration between PLATFORM München and Fonderie Darling, two creation and exhibition hubs for contemporary artists. On site, the participants will take part in exhibitions, meetings and mingling events aiming at a stronger interaction between partners and local artists.

Patrik Thomas explores media art among other things. He was present at the Amerikahaus München event in March 2015, when PLATFORM München organized an exhibition around their two guests from Quebec: “DISPLAY. Screening Of The Young Media Art From Quebec And Bavaria.” By then he showed a keen interest in the Montreal media arts scene.

Monika Bayer-Wermuth is a Curator at Kunstraum München and Assistant Curator at Lenbachhaus. Her work puts a focus on modernity in visual and interactive arts, as well as installations. Her Ph.D. concentrated on artist Harun Farocki, which had the partner institution in Montreal particularly interested.

In March 2015, an artist and an exhibition curator in contemporary art from Quebec took part in an exploratory mission to Munich. The choice of participants in Bavaria was done after a Bavaria-wide call for submissions.

This project is supported by the Bavarian State Chancellery as part of their cooperation agreement with LOJIQ to strengthen the bilateral exchanges of young professionals.
