MUNICH/AMBERG "Upper Palatinate goes global" – that was the motto of this year’s Foreign trade evening in Amberg, where over 400 representatives of the Upper Platinate’s economy met with the Bavarian foreign representatives to exchange views and perspectives on politico-economic topics.

“The export remains an essential factor of success for employment, growth and prosperity in Bavaria. Our industry alone gains every second euro abroad, with an export share of around 52 percent. Especially for small and middle-sized businesses, our foreign representatives are the first contact point abroad. They are local reference persons who convey contacts and thus support the businesses in their exploitation of new foreign markets and in building up channels of distribution abroad”, said the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Ms Ilse Aigner, at the yearly summit of the Bavarian representatives in the Congress Centrum in Amberg.

The foreign representation offices offer a significant contribution to the promotion of Bavaria’s economy outside its borders. They actively pursue location marketing for all of Bavaria. Together with the business promotion agency ‘Invest in Bavaria’ they shape the State of Bavaria as an international business site. “They acquire potential foreign investors and support them from the first expansion plans up until they settle in Bavaria”, explained Aigner.

Once a year the Bavarian foreign representatives come to Bavaria for a work meeting with their foreign trade partners. The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs particularly supports SMEs through a number of measures, from help with the development of business or internationalisation strategies to the exploration of and entry into foreign markets.
