From October 12-16, 2016, Bavarian Red Cross representatives will visit Quebec and broaden the spectrum of existing exchanges with the Canadian Red Cross, Quebec Division

A little more than 3 years after their first exchanges, high ranking representatives of the Bavarian Red Cross – General Manager Mr. Leonhard Stärk, and Director International Relations Mr. Günther Geiger – will visit Quebec anew from 12-16 October 2016, accompanied by Member of the Landtag Dr. Paul Wengert. They will meet representatives of the Canadian Red Cross, Quebec Division, and carry on their existing collaboration and exchanges.

Several meetings are on the agenda, among others revolving around the issue of Syrian refugees in Bavaria. Representatives from the Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as representatives of the Canadian Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship will have the opportunity to learn more about the intake of massive waves of refugees in Germany in 2015 and 2016 and the response to this challenge.

Further discussions with representatives of the Quebec Ministry of Public Security will touch the emergency response of public safety and first respondents corporations – of which the Bavarian Red Cross – when faced with major catastrophes.

The Bavarian Red Cross is a publicly owned corporation headquartered in Munich, and the greatest Red Cross association in Germany, counting 18,500 employees, 125,000 volunteers and more than 1 million sponsoring citizens. Its main activities cover health care and social services, rescue and ambulance services, emergency help and international cooperation, first aid training, and blood transfusion services.
