The 14th meeting of the Bavarian-Québec Work Group took place on the 18th of October, 2016, in Munich under the double chairmanship of Mr. Gunnar Wiegand (right), Deputy Head, European Politics and International Relations at the Bavarian State Chancellery, and the Department Head, Bilateral Relations in the Ministry for International Relations and La Francophonie of Québec, Mr. Michel Lafleur (left).

Alongside the General Delegation of Québec in Munich and the State of Bavaria Québec Office, the Bavarian Alliance for Research (BayFOR) is an essential pillar of the partnership. Since the last work group meeting in 2014, 65 common projects have been successfully implemented with a focus on economy, innovation and science. For the period 2016-2018, support for more than 60 projects and cooperations in various fields has been agreed upon.

With the signature of new cooperation agreements; the exploration of possible new collaborations; the deepening of existing friendship ties; but also various mutual visits of high-ranking representatives of Government and Parliament, the two past years have proven the tremendous weight of the bilateral partnership for both sides:

Taking place every two years, the meetings serve to agree upon cooperation projects in economy, research, education, culture and administration for the next two years as well as to discuss the state of current projects and the cooperation.
