MUNICH – The President of the Bavarian Landtag (parliament), Mrs. Barbara Stamm, is deeply troubled by the terror attack perpetrated in a mosque in Quebec city. In a letter she wrote to her counterpart Mr. Jacques Chagnon, President of the Quebec National Assembly, Mrs Stamm expressed her utter dismay in the name of the Bavarian Landtag.

“By this cowardly act, the lives of six innocent people were taken, and further eight are fighting for theirs. Our deep sympathy goes out to the families of the victims. We wish the wounded a speedy and hopefully complete recovery”, wrote Stamm.

“Through useless violence, blinded fanatics try to destroy our open and liberal societies. In these days – and they are oh so dark – we must never surrender to fatigue, we have to continue and underline, especially on the political and parliamentary levels, that we will never let fear and hatred define our lives. The Bavarian Landtag mourns with the citizens of Canada.”
