Munich Aerospace’s Summer Academy for RLS Aerospace partners: Campus Cooperation in Aerospace, 26-28 June 2017

RLS: Regional Leaders Summit - Bavaria's partner regions

In July 2016 at the Regional Leaders Summit (RLS) Science meeting in Munich, the regional partners agreed to support young academics while creating a virtual education platform which would offer specialized content harvested from the existing regional hubs. The long-term prospects of the Global Aerospace Campus are to develop an RLS Aerospace Online Study Programme with attendance phases, to establish an alternating RLS Summer School Event, and to offer a global exchange and mobility programme for students and professors including internships with industrial partners.

“Aerospace is a key economic driver, and a research priority in the RLS regions. Continuous innovation is required to remain operational under increasing financial and environmental constraints. Qualification of the workforce has proven to be of crucial importance. Different teaching approaches exist in the RLS group. There is a strong understanding among the RLS partners that sharing this regional expertise in teaching aerospace can lead to enhanced teaching and training programs that will benefit all RLS regions.” www.rls-sciences.org

After a successful “Flying Robots” session organized by Munich Aerospace in the summer of 2016, which almost 100 speakers and guests from science and industry attended, the summer of 2017 will see a reedition of this campus cooperation program, this time revolving around the topic of “Green Aerospace”, at Ludwig-Bölkow-Campus in Taufkirchen. Experts will address possible ways to reduce greenhouse gases, pollutant emissions and noise and the renunciation of conventional fuels.

RLS partners include:

  • Georgia : Georgia Tech
  • Shandong : Shandong Institute of Aerospace Electronic Technology Research, Shandong University
  • São Paulo : Unicamp, University of Campinas
  • Upper Austria : Johannes Kepler Universität Linz
  • Western Cape : Stellenbosch University

The event takes place from 26 to 28 June 2017 on the Ludwig Bölkow Campus in Taufkirchen near Munich. Participation is by invitation only.
