State Minister for Digital Agenda, Media and Europe Mr. Georg Eisenreich travels to Quebec City for the Regional Leaders Summit

From Wednesday May 16 to Friday May 18, 2018, State Minister for Digital Agenda, Media and Europe Mr. Georg Eisenreich will take part in the Regional Leaders Summit taking place in Quebec City. He will be there in the name of Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder, leading the Bavarian participants’ delegation. On the agenda, high-level meetings between representatives of Bavaria, Quebec (Canada), Upper-Austria, Shandong (Popular Republic of China), Western-Cape (Republic of South Africa), Sao Paolo (Brasil) and Georgia (USA) on topics covering renewable energies and research in artificial intelligence, as well as several discussions on current common projects, especially in the aerospace sector.

On the occasion of this Summit, Mr. Eisenreich will lead bilateral discussions with heads of government from the Partner Regions Network, among others with Quebec Premier Mr. Philippe Couillard, Western Cape Premier Mrs. Helen Zille, and Vice-Governor of Shandong Mr. Sun Jiye, in order to further develop the existing cooperation between their respective regions within the Partner Regions’ Network. Minister Eisenreich will also hold talks with Georgia’s Minister of Economic Affairs Mr. Pat Wilson about Bavarian companies in the US and consequences of a possible trade tariff increase and import quotas on Bavarian-made products.

As Minister of the Media, Mr. Eisenreich will visit the headquarters of RODEO FX, a leading company in the visual effects sector with studios in Montreal and Los Angeles, who is currently establishing a new studio in Munich in order to increase their activities on the European market. Mr. Eisenreich will be accompanied by a delegation of 27 representatives of the Bavarian interactive media, virtual and augmented reality branches, as well as several representatives of the political and economic landscape of Bavaria.

The Regional Leaders Summit is the most important meeting within the Partner Regions Network, where Bavaria cooperates with seven federal states or regions who enjoy political autonomy and are economically powerful in world areas that are particularly dynamic on the international level. The Network brings together five continents (Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa) and aims to be an essential political and economic international cooperation platforms for the export-driven region of Bavaria. Hosting this year’s summit in Québec City is Québec’s Premier Mr. Philippe Couillard.
