The winners of the 87th Oscar Awards in Los Angeles on February 22, 2015 were Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Alejandro González Iñárritu and many more. This, almost everyone knows.

What fewer people know is that the 24 envelopes for the Award were produced by the Bavarian company Gmund.

The company Gmund, manufacturing handmade paper, is located in Gmund am Tegernsee in the Upper Bavarian valley of the river Mangfall. It is a family business with around 120 employees. It was founded in 1829 and is now managed by Florian Kohler in the 4th generation.

Gmund Paper is specialized in the production of high-quality papers and boards. Whether for the Academy Awards, VIP invitations to the film festival in Cannes, the royal family of Jordan, the government of Abu Dhabi or international brands such as Microsoft or BMW - Gmund Paper manufactures high-quality fine paper for these occasions.

The official Academy Awards designer Marc Friedland, from Los Angeles, has long been  fond of Gmund Papers. The micro-embossing, the brilliance and the integrated, shimmering gold particles make the Gmund Paper so special that he selected it for 2015’s Academy Awards.
