At the commissioning of one of the world's most advanced steam and gas thermal power plants in Ingolstadt, “Irsching 4”, Mr. Horst Seehofer, Minister-President of the State of Bavaria, pointed out the importance of using natural gas as a source of electric power to ensure future energy supply.

He also saluted Bavaria’s innovative dynamism, and emphasized the Bavarian State’s pioneering role toward a new era in energy supply. As Mr. Seehofer explained, “Migrating toward the energy sources of the future is a major challenge for a highly developed, industrial, energy producing country, but is also very promising in the medium and long term.”

The “Irsching 4” steam and gas thermal power plant operated by E.ON (one of the largest gas-powered energy producers in the world) has an efficiency level of over 60% and a total output of 570 megawatts, a world record. The SGT5-8000 H gas turbine, developed by Siemens, constitutes the core of the system and is the world’s most powerful in its class.
