Opening of the German Christmas market in Quebec on 2nd December: a traditional event highlighting Bavarian culture!

On the first two weekends of December again, the German Community of Quebec organizes its traditional German Christmas Market in the old city of Quebec. Since medieval times, the Christmas market in Germany takes place outdoors – a small village of traditional wooden huts will be built up on Place de l’Hôtel de Ville in Québec city.

As in previous years, high-quality handicraft products as well as various Christmas items will be offered at the market. You will also find a grand selection of delicious products like mullet wine (hot spicy “Glühwein”), hot fruit punch for children, German Christmas cookies, gingerbread, bratwursts, grilled chestnuts, etc. Activities for adults and children are planned as well.

Once again, the State of Bavaria Montreal Office is proud to be part of this extraordinary event which is so characteristic of Bavarian Advent traditions. For the second year in a row, the renowned zitherist Will Huber will visit Québec where you can hear him play on Friday, December 2 at 8 pm and on Saturday, December 3 at 2 pm at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, 31, rue des Jardins.
