On May 14th, at the inauguration of the new Eurocopter development center in Donauwörth, Minister-President Horst Seehofer underlined yet again how important the aerospace industry is for Bavaria and for Germany: “By concentrating development, manufacturing and servicing of helicopters in Donauwörth, Eurocopter strengthens its own competence and performance, but also that of the Bavarian aerospace industry. (…) The new "Systemhaus" is nothing but high-tech and innovation: it’s a figurehead for Bavaria as an aerospace industry location.”

The technical development of helicopters, which until now was home in Ottobrunn, will now be home in Donauwörth. With the opening of the “Systemhaus”, the last link for circling the circle of helicopter production in Donauwörth will be closed.

In this more than 100 million Euros investment (overall project costs), the development center will employ 900 people on a 300,000 sq ft surface in order to build the helicopter of the future. In all of Bavaria, more than 60,000 people and 550 companies work in the aerospace industry. The State of Bavaria is ready to support a feasibility study for the development of a new civil helicopter model. Said Seehofer: “The aerospace industry is a remarkable driving force of technical progress. When it comes to maintaining our competence edge, the government will follow but one goal: We have to keep our flight altitude also in the future!”
