Munich stays #1 in Germany – at least concerning the quality of life. The annual  Mercer Quality of Living Survey was published in early March 2015 and ranks Munich as #4 worldwide. Only Vienna, Zurich and Auckland are better.

Düsseldorf ranked 6th and Frankfurt am Main 7th, both managing to reach the top ten.  The German capital Berlin, 4th within German cities, takes #14 in the ranking. Altogether 230 cities all over the world were examined. Munich already reached top positions in the Mercer rankings in the past.

Mercer-expert Brigitte Ludwig explains the recurring outstanding performance of the Bavarian capital: “Munich offers good living spaces for expatriates, a large choice of international flight connections as well as diverse leisure opportunities. These are some factors which have a positive effect on the evaluation.”

39 criteria were evaluated by expatriates sent abroad to work in Germany. Political, social, economic and environmental aspects also play a significant role.
