Canadian real estate group Avison Young opens new office in Munich, Germany


In January 2015, Avison Young, a Toronto-based commercial real estate services firm, announced the opening of a new office in Munich, Germany. Over the past six years, Avison Young has grown from 11 to, now, 63 offices in 52 markets and from 300 to more than 1,700 real estate professionals in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. 

Avison Young launched its European presence in April 2014 when the firm acquired NAI Haywards and opened new offices in London and Thames Valley. The Munich opening follows the launch of Avison Young's German operations in Frankfurt on December 1, 2014. (…)

Avison Young's new Munich office is located at Theatinerstraße 11, Fünf Höfe, in the heart of Munich's central business district.

Munich and the surrounding area rank as one of Europe's most dynamic business regions. Major rankings have repeatedly shown the Bavarian capital to be among the leading international business hubs. Approximately 1.47 million people live in Munich, Germany's third-largest city. The unemployment rate of the Bavarian State at 4.9% is the lowest of any German region The service sector is the region's dominant industry, accounting for 76.7% of Munich's GDP. The manufacturing industry contributes 23.3% to Munich's GDP. The Munich property market is the third-largest in Europe, following Paris and London. Also, Munich is the leading commercial real estate investment market in Germany. Investment transactions in Munich increased by nearly 30% per annum in 2014.
