FFF Bayern financed film „Auf Augenhöhe“, shot in Munich, receives Special Prize from Children’s Jury at Montreal FIFEM 2017.

Montreal’s children film festival FIFEM takes place every year during the school break in early March. Films are screened in several cinemas as well as in cooperation with museums and various public institutions. In 2017, it was the 20th edition.

On 13 March 2017, the winners were announced at the closing ceremony: the Kids Jury awarded its Special Prize to AT EYE LEVEL by Evi Goldbrunner and Joachim Dollhopf, with Jordan Prentice. In 2013, the film VIKTOR AND THE CROCODILE MANSION had also received this award.

“The jury was moved by the story and the various issues it covers, from difference to belonging, and had a crush on the undeniable charm of its core duo of figures and the strength of their bond.”

Synopsis: Michi is 11 years old and lives in an orphanage in which he has trouble finding a sense of belonging. When the other kids discover that his father, Tom, is of short stature,  Michi’s life turns to hell. Forced to flee, he unwillingly moves in with his father. With time going by, both discover they have way more common points than other fathers and sons. Until the day their bond is again put to the test…

AT EYE LEVEL is produced by Rat Pack Filmproduktion, in coproduction with Westside Filmproduction, Martin Richter Filmproduktion, ZDF and Ki.ka. The executive producers are Martin Richter and Christian Becker. It was shot in Munich and financed by the FFF Bayern.

The film had already received the Audience Award at the Kids Festival of Munich’s Film Festival 2016, as well as a multitude of further awards at international children’s film festivals. Among others, it was crowned Best Film at Calgary’s Picture This Film Festival in March 2017. It is now nominated in the Best Kids Film category for Germany's motion picture awards 2017.
