Together with Bayern International and in cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, the State of Bavaria Office in Montreal invites Bavarian companies and scientists to its upcoming delegation trip in the field of Health Technology/Digital Health to Canada and the USA. The offer is aimed at decision makers from Bavaria who are active in the field of health technology/digital health.

During the seven-day trip—from October 15 to 21, 2023—participants will have the opportunity to discover two innovation hubs and their key players: Montreal (Canada) and Boston (USA).

The greater Montreal area is one of the leading life-science and digital health sites, and the institutions located here are internationally renowned for their scientific excellence.

Both McGill University and the University of Montreal have recently heavily invested in the construction of hospital complexes, which—along with their affiliated research institutes—are among the main centres of research and application in the field of digital medicine in North America. Montreal is also one of the leading hubs in AI, thanks to its research institutes such as Mila and IVADO. The innovation landscape therefore offers great potential for business cooperation and joint research projects between Bavaria and Quebec. The health-tech hub Boston hosts many of the most innovative hospitals and healthcare institutions in the United States and is home to world-leading universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.

The visit to Boston will include the attendance of the OctoberINVESTfest 2023. During this event, the State of Bavaria U.S. East Coast Office’s 11th Investor Conference will focus on health technology, robotics and cybersecurity. A pitch session in front of health-tech investors is possible in this context. Contact Janet Danisman (JDanisman@bavaria.org) if you are interested in participating in this pitch session.

The goal of this business delegation is to open new business opportunities and cooperation fields and to deepen existing business and cooperation ties. Meet relevant partners on site, e.g., through company visits, networking events and cooperation meetings. For participating scientists, the program can be slightly: as an alternative to travelling on to Boston with the business delegation, an optional extra day in Quebec can be arranged.

Partners of the delegation are Medical Valley EMN e.V., Forum MedTech Pharma e.V., the Bavarian Research Alliance (Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Quebec/Alberta/International), as well as Bayern Innovativ GmbH.
