The State of Bavaria Montreal Office warmly welcomes its new director, Mr. Daniel Etzel, who will take over the role of Director as of November 15. The entire team is looking forward to working together under his leadership!
Daniel Etzel was previously Deputy Head of the Bavarian Managing Authority of the European Regional Development Fund (ERFD) at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi). His further professional stations include the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as well as the Federal Chancellery, where he held a position as economic affairs advisor in various units until 2018, most notably in the context of Germany’s G20 presidency in 2017.
As a Bavarian native, he studied economics in Würzburg and Paris and obtained his PhD from the University of Bayreuth with his thesis entitled “Wage Policy in a Global World”. In this context, he was also a visiting scholar at the University of Nottingham and the University of Bergen.
At the State of Bavaria Montreal Office, he succeeds Mr. Benjamin Emans, who headed the office since 2014 and significantly deepened the cooperation between Bavaria and Quebec over the past eight years. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Emans for his extraordinary work and team spirit and wish Mr. Etzel a successful start of his term in Quebec.
